Season Preview

Its the time of the year to do a season preview of the Premier League. Well most of the times it is easy to choose who will be in the top four but it is never easy to choose who would finish on top, especially after the way in which the season ended in England and Spain last year.

Everyone has pitched for either Man U or Chelsea to win the league and have a say in most of the trophies. A strong Man U team was further strengthened by some very good signings. Chelsea did their bit also by strengthening their defence and midfield by some free transfers and very conservative buying. Liverpool spent a lot of money by their own standards and has got the most expensive forward this year in the league and whole set of 5-6 new players. Arsenal lost their talismanic striker and another experienced player recalled a few players loaned out last year, bought an unknown player to fit into the team.

James Lawton in Independent has written a nice article which will please a lot of Arsenal fans I am sure. Personally I think if we finish 4th it will be a right start for this young team which shone very bright in the pre-season matches. To finish 4th in a league of high-spending is an achievement in itself and anything above should be a bonus. I would expect this team to come out in flying colours in the next season. There is a great fighting spirit in the team and Gallas who has been made captain should make his feet talk more this season because for me he has not contributed anything last year. Wenger made a choice to make a centre-back the captain for the season as he feels they have the capacity to lead the team better than say a central-midfielder. We cant doubt Wenger here and I would go by his judgement, though with a bit of dislike, like most of the fellow Arsenal fans. After all he is an ex-Chelsea player.

So the new season is going to start and is going to make my weekends more lively. Hope this is a season to remember with lots of goals and attacking football!!!

  1. Personally i believe Arsenal will be second or third this time. The team is good even though le boss has not singed any stars. For that, in his 11 year stint at Arsenal he has never done so. So, hoping Eduardo to score some goals against the lower half clubs against whom Arsenal struggled last season. And Van persie and Ade to slot in some goals against Manu, chelsea and those ilks!

    go.. gunners!

ya the stumbling blocks have always been the bottom half teams…lets hope Arsenal improves on it this year
